Day 1 Arrival Lima – Lima City Tour
Your family vacation with Southern Peru Explorers begins the moment you land here in Peru. Upon arrival to the Lima airport, just search for our Southern Peru Explorers staff member who will be holding a sign with your name on it. We will chauffeur you to your chosen hotel and assist with anything you may need. In the afternoon, we’ll offer you an optional city tour of Lima, which includes the famous sites of San Martin Plaza, Jiron de la Union, and the San Francisco Monastery and Catacombs.

Day 2 Lima – Cusco – Sacred Valley
In the morning, you will be treated to a warm breakfast buffet at your hotel before heading back to the Lima airport for a 90-minute flight to Cusco. Make sure to keep an eye on the horizon as we transition from the Peruvian coast into the spectacular Andes mountains, the longest mountain chain in the world. Upon landing in Cusco, there will be another Southern Peruvian Explorers staff member at the airport to greet you. We will leave the city of Cusco, driving 45 minutes to the colonial town of Pisac.

Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu
We will enjoy a warm breakfast before heading to the Ollantaytambo train station for an early departure to Aguas Calientes, the town that sits below Machu Picchu . The scenic 2-hour train ride runs alongside the famous Inca Trail, and you will notice that the climate will change dramatically from high Andean sierra to lush cloud forest. Once we arrive in Aguas Calientes, we will walk to the nearby bus station that will drive us 20 minutes up the side of a mountain to the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu .

→DAY 04
Machu Picchu – Return To Cusco
Today, we will visit Machu Picchu once more to explore more hidden places, such as the Intipunku (Gate of the Sun) and/or Huayna Picchu (Young Mountain) to visit the Temple of the Moon. A third option for those in good physical condition is to hike to the epic, Phutuq K’usi mountain, which offers unforgettable views of the ruins from afar. After a long morning of exploring, we will return to Aguas Calientes where we will enjoy a delicious lunch before boarding an afternoon train to Cusco.Our drivers

Cusco City Tour
After a restful night recuperating, we will take to the cobblestone streets of the imperial city. You will see and learn about modern, colonial and Incan architecture, as well as a bit about the history and culture of Cusco. Together, we will enjoy a hearty, traditional Peruvian lunch. You will have the opportunity to try some more adventurous dishes, such as guinea pig, chicken hearts and alpaca, to name just a few. After lunch, we will continue onwards to the artisanal neighborhood of San Blas,

Exploring The Imperial City Of Cusco
Private Tour of Cusco and the Inca Ruins Surrounding the City Meet your guide post-breakfast for a private Cusco tour, a captivating city caught between old-world heritage and modern-day dynamism. Few travelers can resist falling head over heels for its charms. A walk here yields all manner of delights, from the Santo Domingo monastery, which sits atop an Inca temple that was once among the finest in the empire, to the grand colonial cathedrals of Cusco’s central square, the Plaza de Armas.

Cusco – Lima
We will shuttle you from your Cusco accommodation to the Alejandro Velasco Astete airport for your domestic flight back to Lima. You will have the rest of the day to explore Lima as you please. We suggest that you check out the trendy neighborhoods of Miraflores and Barranco, where you can go shopping, bike riding, parasailing, surfing, or catch some sun in a seaside park! Miraflores and Barranco are home to numerous museums and world-class restaurants to visit, explore, and catch a bite to eat.

Goodbye Peru!
We will chauffeur you from your Lima accommodation to the Jose Chavez International Airport where you will board your flight home. This ends our service, but if you need recommendations for future Peru explorations let us know!Afterward, you will have some free time to hike to the Inca Bridge, Watchman’s Hut, or just soak in the energizing atmosphere of Machu Picchu before returning to Aguas Calientes as a group by bus.
