You will also learn about the history of the Incan people from our expert guides. Four days later, you will have walked 26 miles (45 km) and crossed passes as high as 4,200m. The highlight, of course, is when you reach the magnificent Machu Picchu.

Day 1

Arrival in Lima

Once your plane pulls into the Lima airport, your family vacation with SPE in Peru has officially started! We will be waiting at arrivals – just search for the SPE member with the sign for your name. Afterwards, we will chauffer you to your hotel, where you will be checked in and we will assist you with anything else you may need. After which, we’ll leave you to recover from your long flight.
Day 2

Flight from Lima to Cusco – Private Tour of Cusco

After a restful night recuperating, chow down on a delicious hotel buffet breakfast, before we head back to the airport for a morning flight to Cusco. This flight is short and sweet and is filled with dramatic views from the plane windows of the desert coast and Andes Mountains. Upon touch down in Cusco, we will begin to wander around the cobblestoned streets of the old Incan capital. Your tour guide will point out the interesting mix between modern, colonial, and Incan architecture as well as highlight other important aspects of this wonderful ancient city. Afterwards, we will bring you out for a tasty traditional lunch. If you’d like to try one of the adventurous dishes of Peru, such as guinea pig, chicken hearts, or alpaca for example, just let us know and we can arrange this for you. After our meal, your private walking tour of Cusco will continue uphill to the quieter artisanal neighborhood of San Blas, the boisturous San Pedro market, and to the intriguing Museum of Pre-Columbian Art. Afterwards you have two options. If you feel ready to fearlessly tackle Cusco’s high altitude, you can continue your private tour of Cusco with a trip out to the nearby fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the temple of Q’enko, and Puca Pucara, if you’d like a more relaxing night, we can return you to your hotel to unwind and enjoy the city after sunset. Remember, your Peru trip is private and customizable, which means you will have an SPE guide and driver at your disposal.
Day 3

Moving onwards, we travel to the quaint town of Pisac, well known for its scenery, ancient ruins, and handicraft market that attract visitors and expats from all over the world. It is a perfect place to pick up patterned textiles or artful ceramics for friends and families. After, we have bought our souvenirs we will head up to the terraced ruins just above town.
